Summertime Crafts: Sun Prints

One of our favorite outdoor, summertime crafts is sun printing. Its like a magic trick brought on by the sun! Even though the Pacific northwest allows for only a small window of time we're able to play with such a product, we sure do take advantage of it.

Its true name is cyanotype printing, which is a alternative photographic process. Originally, it was used as a low-cost printing alternative for engineers, who created blueprints with the iron-based processing. Today there are several different techniques to create the blue tinted images. Collecting found objects makes for super unique, one-of-a-kind prints. Negatives can also be created to reproduce a photograph or drawing.

We carry a few different products in our shops that will help you start sun printing right away!

Book Love

Each of our shops has shuffled things around and created cozy little book nooks for all of our favorite titles. There's everything from learning how to macrame to hand-lettering to crafts for kids. Stop by either store to browse and hopefully find your new favorite book.
